Child day care services essentially offer to take care of a child for certain periods during the day, when the legal guardian of the child is otherwise inconvenienced. This job is sometimes performed by someone outside the child’s immediate family. These services are generally offered while the parents are busy at work and cannot take care of the child. Child day care services are provided in places such as nurseries or crèches (as they are sometimes called) or are taken care of at home by a nanny or babysitter. Sometimes, the structure can be much more formal, when the child day care service also takes care of the child’s development and education, as well as teaching the child discipline. Some family day care centers take care of a number of children from different families at the same time in their own home or in a child care facility.
Some studies suggest that proper child day care services for non infants cannot be harmful. Others offer conflicting views that day care services are inferior to the parental care that is offered at the child’s home itself. It does however depend on the case in question. If the child is above the age of two and is ready to interact with other children of his age, a day care centre might help and could possibly aid his development. However, if the services offered by the day care center are bad, the child can be at risk of being harmed either physically or mentally. Generally the more expensive day care services boast of better services, due to a well trained staff. It is definitely true that children who are put in a good day care center show better mental development than those placed in a bad one.
Thus, before a parent decides to put his child in a day care center, he must be sure that the center he has in mind is a good one with well trained staff who can aid the development of his child.
